Q. Are appointments required?
A.

Yes. Our physicians see patients by appointment from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. While you may request a specific physician when referred to The Heart Center, you may be seen by many of our physicians over the time of treatment.

This approach helps team the patient with subspecialists in order to ensure familiarity with needs specific to each patient?s case. Rest assured any one of our physicians will provide the utmost in personal attention and individual care.

Q. Is there anything I need to do before coming to your office for an appointment?
A. It is best to dress in comfortable two-piece clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Also, please bring a list of your prescribed medications and dosages or bring your medicines in their original containers.

A. No. We also treat vascular disease.

Q. What should I do if I experience an emergency?
A. Our physicians are on call 24 hours daily. Please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department. Identify yourself as a patient of The Heart Center and request that an Emergency Department physician evaluate your problem. The Emergency Department will notify our physicians of any help needed in your care.

Q. How do I renew a prescription written by a Heart Center physician?
A.

We will renew prescriptions for medications prescribed by our physicians. In order to keep your prescriptions current, you will need to see your physician at recommended intervals. The easiest method of having a prescription refilled is to have your pharmacist call our office in advance.

If you prefer to call us regarding your prescription refill, please call (256) 519-8451 in Huntsville. The voice mail will ask a series of 6 questions. Please answer each question as it is asked and our nurses will take care of your prescription renewal without you having to wait for a returned telephone call.

A.

The Heart and Vascular Center participates in, and accepts assignments from many insurance plans including:

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama ? PMD

  • Humana Care
  • Aetna PPO
  • United Health Care
  • Med Net
  • Private Health Care Systems
  • NAMCI/Premiere Health Plans

If your insurance is with a company not listed here, our Patient Accounting Office will be happy to prepare and submit your claim. You should provide us with complete information, such as identification number, group number, and mailing address of the company.

Please make our office staff aware of your insurance coverage requirements such as pre-authorization and second opinion.
